Will this cause any problems with my billing system?
No, Premier Claim Services does not affect, touch, or interact with your billing system or its files in any way.
Premier Claim Services captures the claims from your billing service using a virtual print driver. It is no
different for your billing system than adding a second printer to print claims.
What happens if we receive an upate to our practice management system (billing system)?
It is critical that you contact PCS prior to installing any updates! In some cases, modifications to the PCS program may be necessary to ensure your claims processing service continues without problems.
Why do we need to print claims to the PCS Printer instead of using the capabilities built into our practice
management system?
Only about 1/3 of all dental/medical claims are submitted electronically because of the excessive costs charged by
clearinghouses that operate between the dental/medical office and the payer. Most practice management systems
make it extremely difficult to submit claims electronically without using their service or one of their partners.
The reason for this is because they earn significant revenue from each claim a dental/medical office submits.
PCS has created a proprietary process that allows us to accurately capture the claim from most practice
management systems simply, easily, and without affecting your billing system in any way.
Is this HIPAA compliant?
Premier Claim Services understands the need to submit electronic claims safely and protect the data. PCS
processes are all designed to meet or exceed HIPAA requirements. Claims transmitted to PCS use our
proprietary encryption method. Once received in Premier Claim Services secure facility, claims are either
transmitted to payors using the specific encryption methods for each relationship or mailed.
For our clients who dial-up to our servers, Premier Claim Services uses a username and strong password that
is stored in the code of the program. Our servers verify that it is Premier Claim Services that is connecting to
the server, then allows the connection. After the verification process, the claims are submitted to our servers
using our proprietary encryption method. Once claim submission is complete, Premier Claim Services
disconnects from the server.
For our clients who already have internet access, Premier Claim Services submits claims to our servers using
FTP. Premier Claim Services initiates the connection between our FTP server and the client machine, our
FTP server verifies Premier Claim Services with a username and strong password that is stored in the code of
the program. After the verification process, the claims are submitted to our servers using our proprietary
encryption method. Once claim submission is complete, Premier Claim Services disconnects from the server.
At Premier Claim Services we care about your security, and while our current methods are fully HIPAA
compliant, we currently have plans to incorporate a Secure FTP server that will use 128bit SSL encryption, on
top of our current encryption method.
What are the most common mistakes that offices make using Premier Claim Services?
There are two mistakes that arise most commonly. First, is using a different claim form. The virtual print
driver is setup to look at very specific areas of the claim to locate each data field. Using a different form
creates errors because the data is not located in the same place. Second, is putting claims into a batch but
forgetting to select the claims and printing them to the PCS Printer (virtual printer). After printing you must
open PCS and click “Send Claims” in order for them to actually be sent.
